Regulations and Standards

The manual osteopathy profession is not regulated in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. As such there is yet no regulatory health association representing the profession in Nova Scotia. NSOA is a voluntary non-regulatory organization set by the manual osteopathy profession.
The Nova Scotia Osteopathic Association develops and enforces its Standards of Practice, Policies and Guidelines on its members.
Standards of Practice outline the base requirements manual osteopaths must meet to demonstrate clinical competence and deliver quality health care services. Contravening or failing to maintain a standard of practice is an act of professional misconduct and may lead to disciplinary action against a member by NSOA.
